One Great City! // The Weakerthans

Here’s my tribute to my dear hometown, Winnipeg Manitoba. That’s in Canada, in case you didn’t know. Last night I went to a Frank Turner show in said hometown, and he closed his set with this cover… except every “I hate Winnipeg” was turned into “I hate Winchester” apart from the end when he closed it off with “I love Winnipeg” and a huge grin.

I don’t care. I’ll complain about this city till the day I die but in all honesty, it’s home. It doesn’t matter that I moved away to a small town 20 minutes away; I’ll always know Winnipeg better than anywhere else. I love the cold and the Jets and the North End and the sketchiness and the crazy drivers. One great city, indeed.
