Dead Kennedys - Stealing People’s Mail.

People say that we’re crazy
We’re sick and all alone
But when we read your letters
We’re rolling on the floor

When I was in 8th grade I had a to give a presentation in my Language Arts class about something. The subject matter was of our choosing. I had just started listening to music. The first bands I really enjoyed were Metallica, Rage Against the Machine and early hardcore punk like Dead Kennedys and Black Flag. For some reason the political undertones of certain Metallica and DK songs got to me, and I decided to do my oral report on politics in music. So in 8th grade I gave a presentation that mentioned Dead Kennedys and Napalm Death. punkrockneverstop.

The speech was embarrassing and I remember dropping my note cards. I think I wore a t-shirt for the video game Tekken 3. I probably sounded like a total douche,  but most likely no one was listening. It’s a moment in my life that I always remember when listening to anything like this. Even if it isn’t really a political song like “Stealing People’s Mail”. 

I was really curious about politics throughout middle and high school. I am pretty indifferent to most issues now. I guess I got bitter at an early age too.
