07.01.09 The Ergs! Books About Miles Davis (Hindsight is 20/20 edition, originally on the Books About Miles Davis 7” on Woah Oh Records)

For living in New Jersey and knowing the people I do, I got on the Ergs! train really late.  I was busy obsessing over 1997 to care about what was happening then in my own state.  When I first heard them, I couldn’t get into it.  Now, about two years later, I can’t imagine what my life was like before them.  The day of their last shows changed my life and really tipped the scales into making me the person I am today.  Mikey Erg is a fucking superhero to me.

This probably won’t be the last Ergs! song this month, but I wanted this to be the first because it’s one of those songs that’s always playing at the back of my head, the background music to the movie that is my life.  My aggrandized dreams of all the things that only exist in books and the people I want to share them with who just happen to always tell me to go.  Bittersweet, yes.  But also perfect in so many situations.
