It’s been a long day.  I just need to be quiet for a second.  Turn everything off.

When everything feels like it’s spiralling out of control, when my life feels like it’s falling apart, this is where I come to.

There was this night at Asbury Lanes a few weeks ago.  I was supposed to be at Maxwells seeing the Measure but shit happened and I decided I couldn’t go back to Hoboken for awhile.  I decided to go to this show kind of last minute.  I got a speeding ticket when I was on my way down there from work, too.  But that night was probably one of my top ten show experiences ever. That night, I spent a good amount of time talking to Mike about my life and how his music has really made an impact on not only my understanding of the world, but my ability to cope with it.  He told me that the music was a product of falling apart and understanding how to stay in control when everything comes crashing down.  It was one of those moments where I can just close my eyes and immediately be transported under those hot lights on the stage of the Lanes; everything stops and everything is okay.  Whenever I feel really shitty, I put myself back there in that moment.  I am so thankful for that moment, you have no idea.
