Reel Big Fish- She Has a Girlfriend Now

Ahh. 8th grade. Awkward spring semi’s, getting handys in the woods, all kinds of crazy things happened when our hormones stirred.

This isn’t even my favorite Reel Big Fish track by a long shot, but its my favorite in the sense that its the one that rings truest to me. I know I know everybody’s got their one formerly straight ex. Well, nuts to that. I have count them, not just one, not just two, but SEVEN gay exes. Scott Pilgrim got NOTHING on me. Including the young woman who took my v card at the ripe age of 17 after my first semester of college. She’s with the love of her life now and I wish her the best, but at the time I was less than thrilled to find out how much she liked other girls.

Or maybe the really hot girl who kind of reminded me of Enid from Ghost World. A couple show choir competitions later and she was dating my ex from my old ska band, who, I should’ve known by her incredibly rough hands (from sailing apparently) and utter distaste for anything feminine. Or how about the really laid back hippie girl who couldn’t stop painting the female form, but had just the RIGHT amount of interest in 60s jazz.

Mind you I have no anger for these women because they have found their paths and I have found mine, but its been quite the journey. I mean for most of my dating life I had more lesbian exes than straight exes. I mean the numbers are at 7 out of 15, breaking that trend but the odds are not in my current girlfriend’s favor.
