Austin Lucas - ‘Kith and Kin’

I’ve not got a specific story about this song, but Austin’s music has gotten me through a lot over the years and it only seems right that I make my favourite song of his part of my song journal month.

I don’t exactly know what it is, but Austin’s amongst a select few artists I turn to when everything gets on top of me. Granted, that’s not very often (and it’s not like that’s the only time I listen to his stuff), but it’s really chilled out and very easy to relate to. I’ve got a feeling that’s got something to do with it.

I was lucky enough to meet Austin a couple of years back we’ve been friends since. Not only that, but it was Austin who introduced me to El and Helen, and I’ll always be grateful for that. I’m really looking forward to him being back here in March. Shame he’s not bringing The Bold Party with him (Fun fact: Ian and I came up with that [with some help from Jon Snodgrass]).

So yeah, here’s to Austin for being a proper awesome bastard!
