And so it begins.
I’m Robin and with the start of February, comes my month to express and explore my emotions and thoughts surrounding 28 songs. Though I often find myself holding back my opinions on music, not sharing songs, albums, or artists with others out of fear of what might be said (and what I may have to defend), I’ve decided with this blog to come out with full disclosure. I think it’s only fair to start this short live relationship as honestly as possible.
Tonight I was supposed to see Lucero open for Social Distortion, along with Chuck Ragan up in Davis, CA, about an hour north of where I currently live. Unfortunately, however, Social Distortion has the flu (yes, it appears that the whole band is sick based on the cancellation email and phone call I received this morning), and therefore, things did not go according to plan. I’m not completely bummed out, they’ll be playing a small club near my hometown tomorrow night, I thought Lucero might be a good way to start this.
That Much Further West is a song about new beginnings. And right now, out west is the only sky that’s blue. This is the daytrotter version, giving it a live feel along with the added touch of the horns during the chorus, and it felt appropriate. Enjoy.
